About

On March 10, Bloomberg Businessweek held its second annual Design Conference in San Francisco at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts featuring some of the world's most forward-thinking design professionals.

With a nod to Rem Koolhaas, the program was organized into sessions: Small, Medium, Large, and Extra Large. The day-long event touched on everything from nanotechnology to skyscrapers.

2013

Bloomberg Businessweek Design 2013 featured 26 presenters–including Yves Béhar, Stephen Doyle, Tony Fadell, Jeanne Gang, Thom Mayne, and Patricia Urquiola. The sold-out event was covered across various Bloomberg Businessweek and Bloomberg platforms, including Bloomberg TV, businessweek.com, and the Bloomberg Businessweek+ app.

The magazine devotes a special design issue to the presenters, their ideas, and the discoveries made at the conference.

There was a lot of know-how in the audience, definitely an engaged and professional audience, where everyone could actually have spoken onstage.
Yves Béhar

I really enjoyed speaking at the inaugural Bloomberg Design Conference. It ran like clockwork — smart, charming speakers in a great venue with world-class attendees.
I look forward to being in the audience for the next one.
Michael B. Johnson

They came, they collaborated, they conferred. For the 250-some design industry professionals who converged on San Francisco’s de Young Museum, the intense day of meetings, presentations, and lectures revealed a new design paradigm of communal success. Many participants came for the opportunity to glean from peers in related fields and were surprised at the confluence of thought across disciplines.
